CentOS5でfstabでusbHDDを自動マウントできません。

 いつもお世話になっております。
CentOS5にIODATAの250Gのusbhddを接続しました。

 手動でマウントはできました。

#mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /home

自動でマウントしたかったので
http://fun.orz.hm/usb/usb01.html
に沿って設定してみました。

 こちらのサイトではusbhddは8個ですが、私は一つ(logからsda1)のみです。

 fstabを

[root@testsv ~]# cat /etc/fstab

として起動しますと、

filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:

と出てメンテナンスモードのパスワードを要求されました。

CentOS5の一枚目のCDを入れて
boot:linux rescue

で立ち上げてfstabを編集して元に戻すとusbhddのマウントなしで元通り起動するのですが、何とか自動マウントすることはできないでしょうか。

 最悪は起動スクリプトにmountコマンドでも書こうかと思っておりますが・・・

 なにとぞご教授賜りたいと存じます。

問題解決の方法でなくて申し訳ないのですが、1つ質問が

fstabの第6フィールドはルートファイルシステムは1、その他のパーティションは2だと思っていたのですが
3というのもアリなのですか?

/etc/fstabに下記のようにUUIDで指定してみてはどうでしょうか?
※UUIDの調べ方は、$ man vol_id で確認してください


UUID=3612d325-3b2d-489f-a938-d6e7837d671c /home ext3 defaults 1 2

ひょっとして、/etc/fstab を読み込んで mount を行っている時には、まだ USB HDD が認識されていないのではないでしょうか?
起動後に dmesg なり boot.log を見て、どのタイミングで認識されたかを調べた方が良いと思いますが…。

やはり、USB HDD を sda として認識する前に、fstab に書かれたファイルシステムを mount ( + swapon ) しているようですね。
usb-storage ドライバは既にロードされているので、処理の順番というよりは、認識までの時間の問題という気もしますが…。

手動でのマウント ( fstab では noauto 指定 ) か、rc の最後の方でマウントさせるか、automount を使うかなら無難なのでしょうけど。
※initrd を弄くる手はあるのでしょうか…?
